They Should Have Ended It

My boss insisted that we would talk about my hours once I had gone back to uni, and the new hours system came in.

No such luck.

My hours have been cut to miserly 4 hours on a Saturday. Meaning that I am not earning enough to pay for 1/3 of my train fares, let alone 0ther essentials such as food and clothing.

So I am officially jobhunting. Again.

Suppose I could go on the game. I'm already screwed, might as well make it official.

Hmm, sounds a bit odd - I didn't know they could actually reduce your hours... If you've got a copy of the contract, it might be worth checking they're allowed to do that. They probably have reserved the right to vary your hours, though. :/

Basically my contract is for 4 hours. But I was always given more as the rota was organised week to week.

But now it is a set rota, they are within their rights to keep me on 4 hours. But the way it has been done is shitty, and a waste of training me up tbh.

Heh, didn't know you could get just four hours... Most of the places I look for holiday work seem to have eight hours minimum or something.

If it's any help at all, I've received an email for a tutor position in Allen. The warden there is lovely, and I'm sure you'd get a good reference from EH here - though she's retiring at the end of the month!

I saw that and I am tempted, but I would still have to find a part time job in Manchester as well. As the tutor position would only ocver my accommodation costs.

Still anything is worth a try.
