I'm such a big wuss really...

I've been reading Little Women again after seeing the film on the TV a few weeks ago. It's been years since I first read it.

And I still cry. Silly but true.

It also makes me doubt that I'm cut out for being a spinster. That maybe one day I'll find my Professor Bhaer and live happily ever after.

Which is utter bollocks, but I still love the book and no doubt next time I read it, I'll still cry.

Buckets.

Well, that's just fucking peachy keen....

Just got a Topshop bill for almost £150.

Not used my account card in months.

Just looked in my purse, and said card is missing.

I feel sick.

Tongue-tied and a teensy bit starstruck

Just got back from a book signing by one of my fave authors, Kathy Reichs.

She was great.

She talked all about the science in her books and took questions. I was brave and asked her about the fact she used a victim with Klinefelter's Syndrome in one of her books and wanted to know if she'd worked on a similar case in real life.

Yes. I is a nerd.

Later I got my book signed but was too shy to say anything other than 'Hi' and 'Thank you'. Which is quite unlike me, as I talk a lot. A mean, a lot. But when I came face to face with this woman, I didn't know how to tell her what an inspiration she has been to me ever since I started reading her books. And that was in my mid-teens.

It all sounded so trite in my head anyway, but she has been one of the reasons I chose to pursue a career in science and even to make the leap and go back to uni. Not her alone, I might add, but yeah, she is a hero of mine. A big hero.

And I got to meet her....

But nothing would come out of my mouth.

I'm a nerd but even nerds have heroes.

Super bobbies!

Police want more powers to help combat terrorism after yesterday's failed attacks on the tube.

Does this mean that new recruits will be exposed to gamma rays, cosmic rays and radioactive spiders in an attempt to make new Super Law Men?

They will leap tall buildings in a single bound and catch criminals in sticky webbing. Just don't make them angry, you'll get a damn sight worse than a ticket.

In all seriousness folks, yesterday's attacks were no laughing matter but we cannot let a few extremists make us live in fear.

From what I have seen of people out and about today, everyone seems utterly determined to prove how unafraid they are.

Life will go on. It has to.

The die is cast.

So yesterday I crossed my very own employment Rubicon, so to speak, when I handed in my notice at The Job From Hell.

I am officially going back to the University of Manchester to study (or should that be read) for a Masters in Forensic Egyptology. Which means I will be moving back up to the Northlands (hooray!!!).

Very excited, very excited indeed.

Am hoping to go on a major night out at the beginning of August, or end of July. So if any of you people out there are in London and fancy meeting up, just give me a shout. Or an email, my hearing is not that brilliant.

Do you want to go to Live8 in Edinbrugh?

Hi all

I was lucky enough to win a pair of tickets to the Live8 concert in Edinburgh on Wednesday. However, lack of fundage means I'm not in a position to go.
So if any of you guys want my tickets just email me.
