I Did A Bad Thing....

Ok, so I love to shop. My bank balance however is not in agreement. But I've had a few successes this week and it seemed appropriate to treat myself. Plus my Mum egged me on! Honest!

Anyway, a lovely lovely lady has bought one of my jewellery items from eBay. My first ever sale! Thanks Sue!

Plus I've been called for a second interview for the Ealing job. Goddamn Virgin Trains for trying to make my journey as difficult as possible. Explain to me the sense in doing engineering work on a Bank Holiday Weekend! There isn't another after tomorrow until December 27th, plenty of time to prat about with tracks and stuff.

But anyway, so after all that I just had to have these gorgeous jade green cowboy boots from Office. They'll look fab with my jeans and poncho. *Sigh* It's hard work being a fashionista, roll on payday...

Trains that go under the ground? It'll never catch on!

So I made it all the way to London and back in one day, quite an achievement for me at least. Not without it's obstacles though. Nearly missed my first train at half nine due to horrendous roadworks. I had to walk to the station, in new shoes! With heels! :(

Getting to London wasn't a problem at all, and we actually arrived early. So Virgin Trains can get it right sometimes. And because they had forgotton to put up the reservations, I got to sit in First Class. Tee Hee!

I managed to brave the Underground alone, but I think we must have been very close to the bowels of Hell. Warm doesn't describe it!

How big is Paddington station?! I had to run for my train as it was bloody miles away from the boards and they only put the platform number up 2 minutes before the train was due to leave! Bastards!

While getting to Ealing was easy, getting back was a little more fraught. When I arrived at Euston tube station, the doors didn't open. A disembodied voice then announced there was a suspect package on the platform and we would not be stopping. The Russian next to me giggles and says 'Bomb!'. I shoot him my patented Death Glare and he shut up.

So I ended up at King's Cross where I was told that Euston had been evacuated. At this point I fully expected my parent's to see this one the news and flip out. Luckily only the tube station was closed, so I could walk from King's Cross and still get home.

I eventually got home and went straight to bed.

Oh yeah, and the interview went OK too.

Countdown To Interview

Train tickets?

Check!

Map?

Check!

Crafty research on company and job post?

Check!

Am I ready? Don't be so bloody daft!

Actually my biggest fear is of getting lost or delayed on route. I can totally imagine me going in completely the wrong direction in the underground. Not that I need the sun to navigate or owt, but I have never ventured onto the Underground alone. Wish me luck, I want my mummy!!

The Next Great Marketing Scandal?

I live in the country, and as you would expect in the country, there are farms. Wales may be renowned for its love (ahem!) of sheep but some farmers actually raise cattle.

A few months ago I travelled down to Cardiff through mid-Wales and saw a great many signs advertising '96% fat free milk'.

Sounds great right? Farm fresh milk with only 4% fat! That is unless you are aware that full fat milk is 4% fat! Obviously these farmers are aware of that great marketing idea, 'Never underestimate the stupidity of the punter'.

Things I learnt yesterday...

It is impossible to lick your elbow, (To my eternal shame, I have tried. It REALLY is impossible). A more frightening thing is that I found out this informative gem by reading the back of a children's cereal packet. (I work on a supermarket check-out, v boring, hence the reason I was reading said packet)

Another thing I discovered is that old men (or any male of the human variety for that matter!) should not have LONG FINGERNAILS!
One sextagenarian handed me the total for his shopping and scratched all my hand with his creepy nails. I wanted to scream and shudder in disgust. I refrained, but couldn't help notice they were all manicured and apparently maintained purposefully in this state. I do not wish to ponder the reasons why

Progress?

Oops, have been v lax in updating this thing for the past week. Anyway, I have four, yes count them, FOUR wonderful pieces of jewellery up on eBay (UK) at the mo. My username is sessanie, so please go check them out.

In other news, I have a job interview!! *Does a happy little dance* It sounds like a really great oppourtunity but the only downside is that it is in Ealing, London. Whenever I make a step in the right direction, that direction turns out to be south. Not that I have anything against moving, the only problem would be finding somewhere reasonable to live. Any suggestions on areas around West London would be gratefully recieved.

But first I need to get the job. *gulp*

After receiving said interview news I went shopping with my li'l sis. This is always a bad idea for my poor wallet. But I do have wonderful powers of rationalisation, but of course I needed those shoes, and the earrings, and the trousers, and the books. Ah well, if I'm going to slog my guts out at the Supermarket From Hell then I damn well want something to show for it.

I must admit to be slightly apprehensive about whether this job is right for me. I think so but other members of the family are not so confident. However, fate took a hand last night, in the form of a fortune cookie at the local Chinese Restaurant. It told me that...

'The time is right to follow you dreams'

Now all I need to make sure that my dreams really are in Ealing, then I can follow.

But it hurts!!

How much does sunburn on your scalp hurt? A bloody lot! Hmm, but is nowhere as bad as standing on an upturned plug in your bare feet. *Shudder*

On a positive note, a very happy first birthday to the fabulous webcomic Questionable Content which is written by the equally fab Jeph Jacques. Altogether now, Happy Birthday to you....

Camptown Races sing this song....

So yesterday I managed to escape from the familial homestead for the day and went a gambling. On a Sunday! Tee Hee.
Yesterday was Family Day at the Roodee Racecourse in Chester, and a gorgeous day it was too. After plastering myself in suncream and wearing my fave jeans and rock chick top (no fancy hats and dresses for lil ol' plebian me) we headed off.
I don't think I have ever seen so many people together in one place in my life! It was heaving! However my friends and I managed to find a great spot right next to the course. There were six races and I managed to win more than I lost, I felt very jammy. Disappointingly there were no streakers this year, but we didn't hear any shotguns either.
Today I find myself with a rather odd sunburn pattern on the back of one arm and horror of horrors, I have caught the sun on my face.
I hate to tan as I always get that awful peely nose which is not very attractive. Thank God for moisturiser.
